Go-to Home Maintenance Tips for 2024

As 2023 makes way for ’24, we like the idea of setting resolutions for our living spaces, in addition to our personal goals. So why not kick off the year with the commitment to maintain your home, better. We’ve complied a checklist of home maintenance goals that will leave you crushing 2024. Boom.

Cut down on energy use This makes the top of our list because its an easy one: from turning off lights when you aren’t in a room, shutting off the water while you brush your teeth or separating your recycling, to ensuring your home is properly insulated to maintain heat and cooling efficiency. Improve indoor air quality. We’ve got an entire post dedicated to this. Things like annual maintenance of your HVAC, to regularly changing your furnace filter to the best indoor plants for clean air. It’s a must.

Nontoxic cleaning habits and supplies. Have you ever walked through your living space and made a list of items that don’t/rarely get cleaned and then how to properly clean them? Like a dishwasher filter or washing machine gasket, for example. And then the ‘cleanest’ way to clean them? It’s empowering and incredibly beneficial to you and your home. Security check. Test smoke detectors, replace batteries and ensure that your home is equipped with adequate security measures.

Inspect and repair Conduct a comprehensive inspection of your home, paying attention to potential issues. Check for leaks, cracks, and any signs of wear and tear. Address any minor repairs right away (to avoid a “told ya so” moment) and prevent them from escalating into major problems. Ya don’t need that! 2024 is going to rock.
